The Modbo and S.P.Q.R. present November’s First Friday on November 4th, 2016.  In The Modbo, you’ll see “Nom de Plume,” a show by local artists working anonymously in foreign media.  Meanwhile, in S.P.Q.R., it’s “Hand to Mouth” by Daisy McGowan.  Both shows are open Friday nights through the 18th of November.  The opening reception on November 4th will go from 5:30 pm til midnight.  The Modbo and S.P.Q.R. are located at 17b and 17c East Bijou, 80903.  More information at themodbo.com or by calling 633-4240 or emailing themodbo@gmail.com

Daisy McGowan has been exhibiting her mixed-media art in Western and Midwestern galleries and art spaces for the past 15 years.  She was born in Italy and raised around the world, the daughter of two artists. McGowan is currently Director of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) and lives and maintains her studio practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

For “Hand to Mouth, “ Daisy McGowan’s multi-media, encaustic-heavy works on wood panel layer sculptural textures, graphic elements, etched lines, and drawing. McGowan references a range of concepts – often within a single artwork – reflecting her interest in and research of subjects including human-made and natural systems, language, graphic art, animal mortality, anatomy and sexuality. Her training in printmaking, sculpture, bookmaking, encaustic and mixed-media combine in her most recent bodies of work.
